Questions from drivers
Is the PlugEV app free?
Yes. The app is free to download and use. You only pay for the charging sessions you start, at the price shown for each location.
Do I need my own charging cable?
Some PlugEV chargers have a tethered Type 2 cable, while others have a socket where you use your own Type 2 cable (most EVs come with one). The app shows which type each charger has.
Can I charge without downloading the app?
Yes. Scan the QR code on the charger to open a secure web checkout and pay by card. You'll get a receipt by email.
What is an idle fee?
At busy locations, an idle fee may start after a grace period once your car has finished charging. It encourages drivers to free up the bay for others. If a location has an idle fee, it's always shown before you start, and we notify you when charging completes.
What if a charger isn't working?
Report it in the app or call the 24/7 support number on the charger. Our team can diagnose and restart most chargers remotely, and you won't be charged for a failed session.
How do I get a PlugEV RFID card?
Order one from the Account section of the app. Once it's linked to your account, tap it on any PlugEV charger to start a session, which is handy when your phone has no signal.
